Clinton Swanson
The Kootenay Gallery begins a new season of concerts in their Sunday Coffee Concert Series made possible by the generous support of the TD Canada Trust. The season opener, on Sunday September 19, will present Clint +1, featuring jazz and contemporary music for saxophone and bass. Saxophonist Clinton Swanson was 17 years old when he started his career as a professional musician performing in Kootenay bars, community halls, and festivals. Now after 21 years of performing nationally and internationally in Night Clubs, theatres, and festivals Clinton has come full circle residing in Nelson where he continues to perform with numerous groups in the Kootenay area.

Accompanying Clinton will be the very talented Mark Spielman on electric bass. Mark studied music at the University of Miami and was a freelance musician in the Miami area before moving to Nelson to join the Selkirk College Music Department faculty. Together as Clint + 1 they will interpret an adventurous repertoire of originals, jazz standards, blues, folk, and gospel.

This concert will be held at the Castlegar United Church at 1:30-3:00. Admission is $10, $8 for Kootenay Gallery members. For more information call 365-3337 or visit our website at www.kootenaygallery.com
