Monday Night at the Movies, Kootenay Gallery's monthly film series that began in the winter of 2006, is on an indefinite hiatus. The inability of the film series volunteer committee to secure theatre space from Kootenay Centre Cinemas owners - May Theatres based in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan - where the series has played since it began, and the lack of a working film projector at the old Castle Theatre in downtown Castlegar, has determined that the series will be put on hold for the foreseeable future. "We hope that we may be able to resume the Film Series at a later date, said film series Coordinator, Cheryl Gnyp. We would like to thank our audience for their appreciation and attendance over the past four years."

Monday Night at the Movies was created as a yearly fundraiser to support programming and activities at the Kootenay Gallery in Castlegar.
