The Selkirk Weavers Guild is a non-profit organization that has been active in the West Kootenay area since 1972.
The objectives of the guild are:
~To foster the art and craft of weaving and spinning.
~To mentor the skills and development of beginners and to encourage members to achieve the highest standards of excellence.
~To collect past and current literature for the use of members.
Guild meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month from September to June at 10am in the Weavers Room at the Doukhobor Discovery Centre.
The Kootenay Gallery is a non-profit institution, governed by a Board of Directors and financially assisted by the Government of BC through the BC Arts Council, the City of Castlegar,
Visitors are always welcome to visit. Through the summer months, the Guild operates a gift shop at the Doukhobor Discovery Centre.
As a service to members, the Guild provides:
~ An extensive and growing library.
~ Rental equipment.
~ Workshops and seminars.
~ Annual sale and exhibit.
~ Gift shop sales outlet.
~ Wholesale yarn supply.
~ A bi-monthly newsletter.
