Salary: $22 – $25 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)

The Kootenay Gallery of Art is a vibrant, growing home for contemporary Canadian and regional art. We see ourselves as a hub for creativity and community connection right here in the Kootenay region. We are currently stepping into a big new chapter as we develop our brand new facility in downtown Castlegar. We are looking for a meticulous and community minded Bookkeeper to help us keep our financial foundation solid as we grow.
Position Summary
Our Bookkeeper plays a vital role in keeping the Gallery healthy and transparent. Reporting to our CEO, you will oversee our full cycle accounting and ensure our funds are tracked with care. We are looking for a teammate who is proactive, detail oriented, and ready to help us manage day to day operations while supporting big dreams like our new facility development.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Caretaking & Accounting
- Maintain our financial records with accuracy using Sage 50.
- Manage our accounts payable and receivable.
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Processing payroll, remittances, and T4 preparation.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements for the CEO and our Board of Directors.
Supporting Our Mission & Compliance
- Track grant funding and project budgets.
- Support grant reporting.
- File PST returns.
- Prepare year end working papers and liaise with our external accountants for annual reviews/filings.
Working with the Team
- Assist our Giftshop Gallery Coordinator with tracking sales and inventory data.
- Assist gallery staff with other financial tasks.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: You have a solid background in full cycle bookkeeping.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Sage 50.
- Organization: You have strong time management skills with the ability to manage priorities and deadlines.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Integrity: You value a high degree of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
