Spring 2014 in Nelson and Revelstoke, BC

Are you a professional artist (all disciplines, including: visual, writing, performing, music etc.) interested in working with young people and educators in schools? If so, ArtStarts in Schools is pleased to present the following two-part opportunity:

PART ONE: Presenting your Professional Practice: March 13 and 14, 2014

A two-day professional development offering hosted at ArtStarts in Schools in Vancouver, designed to enhance artists’ ability to professionally and strategically present themselves to educators and identify ways to work together.

CONNECT with other professional artists who work in schools

LEARN from other professional artists about their best practices

SHARE your professional practice with artist peers and receive feedback

PREPARE for the April 7th Artists in the Classroom Exchange event (see below)

PART TWO: Artists in the Classroom Exchange: April 7, 2014

A full-day event hosted in either Nelson or Revelstoke designed to connect professional artists and educators so they can explore ideas and work together to provide meaningful arts integration experiences in the classroom.

SHARE your professional artistic practice and connect with educators who want to work with you

LEARN about funding opportunities through ArtStarts to support artists in the classroom projects

COLLABORATE with educators and come away with ideas on future arts integration projects

 In order to qualify, you must:
– be a resident of the Columbia Basin area and live within a commutable distance to either Nelson or Revelstoke; and
– attend the March 13 and 14, 2014 preparatory event in Vancouver (full travel and accommodation subsidy available); and
– attend the April 7, 2014 event in either Nelson or Revelstoke.

In order to apply, please respond to the following:
1.       Your name, email, phone number, city and which location you wish to attend for April 7th (either Nelson or Revelstoke).
2.       Briefly describe your artistic practice and your area(s) of discipline.
3.       Share a specific experience where you worked as a professional artist with young people and/or educators, preferably in a classroom setting.
4.       Describe how you might leverage this opportunity in your professional practice.
