March 6 – April 18, 2015
Internal Landscapes
by Julie Elliot, curated by Jane Ritchie
Kelowna based artist, Julie Elliot has developed a style that is marked by strong flat shapes, line and pattern within a richly textured surface. Her working process has evolved to encompass, separately and in combination: painting, print making and drawing. She tests and manipulates a medium in order to better express the ideas that challenge and delight her. It is this push and pull, the paradox of opposites both in content and process, that brings her to her current series of paintings.
An opening reception was held March 6 at 7:00 pm at the Kootenay Gallery of Art.
Also an educator, Elliot will conduct a paper collage workshop incorporating mixed media to explore the concepts of chaos and control.
